A disabled and / or handicapped is not cared for even by his family members whereas it is most needed. Even then people with disabilities, no matter how different society makes them look, are individuals, with a separate identities, aspirations, personalities. They have a wide range of interests, hobbies, skills and potentials, they have their mood and sense of humour. It is noteworthy that both the Central and State Governments adopted and implemented various programmes and schemes for the welfare of the disabled / handicapped. The Society for Comprehensive Rehabilitation Service (SCRS), a non-governmental organization, has been working as a NODAL AGENCY, for more than two decades in a spreading network of welfare services to the disabled / handicapped in the country, as well as for prevention, early detection and treatment for disabled and handicapped welfare with innovative ideas, plans and programmes under one roof keeping a space in conformity with United Nations Comprehensive Rehabilitation Guidelines for disabled persons for the development of disabled persons both in rural and urban.
Keeping in view for rendering comprehensive rehabilitation services covering medical treatment, awareness, prevention of disability, physical and economic rehabilitation of all the disabled and handicapped persons, SCRS was founded in the year 1989 with the following founder members :-
